Buyer beware! Due to the ever increasing popularity and demand for Mexican Talavera sinks, particularly in the southwest U.S., many "border factories" have popped up that import inexpensive knock-offs. These sinks are typically priced similarly to the real thing - however, they tend to have shoddily painted designs that show little attention to detail. (production line style) Mexican sinks manufactured in Nogales, Tijuana and other border towns are not authentic merchandise!
How to recognize quality:
- Authentic Talavera sinks are typically manufactured in Delores Hildalgo, Mexico and other nearby regions.
- Authentic Mexican sinks should show extreme attention to detail, and (if purchasing on the web), should show truly close-up photos, so you can see the detail in the design.
- Authentic sinks are not "blocky" in design, or sloppy
- Authentic hand painted Talavera should be signed by the artisan that painted them
- Quality Mexican Talavara sinks will have overflow prevention holes, and standard drain openings to accomodate US fittings.
All TalaveraStyle Mexican Talavera sinks are hand-painted to extreme detail, and are top quality authentic works. (click to see selection)
